Located in Toowoomba and Toowong Queensland; Vision Accountants (VA) is a professional practice providing accountancy and allied services to our clients.


We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy as either a website visitor or a client of our practice. For the purposes of data collection legislation, we are the data controller and will only process your data in accordance with the Australian Principles Privacy Act. Collecting Your Personal Details


We may collect and process your personal data in the following circumstances:


  • When you request an appointment, or complete contact forms on our website where you divulge your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and other details.
  • If you contact us through our website we may hold a record of your request and any information you provide.
  • The pages you visited on our website and your general location e.g., Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sydney, London et cetera.
  • We may gather information about your device and your I.P. address for use in our statistical data. This statistical data will not divulge the identity of website visitors, by contrast it is solely used to identify and analyse browsing actions and patterns.

  • Our site utilises cookies to distinguish you from other visitors to our site. Our cookies cannot access your personal information, they enhance your experience as you click into different pages within the site. At your own option, cookies can be disabled in your browser, however, this will affect your website experience. Making an Appointment

  • When you first make an appointment with us, we will collect personal details such as your name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, et cetera.
  • Vision Accountants accepts no responsibility for the security of personal data where the client has authorised a third party to receive all or any of the client’s information as stored on our database. This includes information received from third parties on behalf of the client, which the client has requested us to pass such information to other third parties.


Credit Card & Debit Card Payments

  • When a client opts to remit payments by either of the above methods and sends written details by post, VA will process the payment(s) and destroy the card details. VA will not retain card details received in person, by telephone, or by post. However, we accept no liability where card details are sent by post and that letter is lost or intercepted any third party. We strongly recommend NOT sending card details by email.


Keeping you Informed

  • We may contact you from time-to-time by e-mail, SMS or post to provide you with current and relevant news.


Sharing Your Feedback

  • Where you share feedback with us, we reserve the right to publish such feedback using only your forename and postcode. Please inform us at time of writing if you would prefer your feedback not to be used in this way.


Personal & Business Information of current clients

  • In relation to information that we may legally or otherwise require in order to act on your, or your organisation’s behalf, we will retain such information in a secure manner that complies with relevant laws and this Privacy Policy.
  • Such information could or will include TFN, ABN, ACN, date of birth, home address, registered business address, place of business, et cetera. Although some of this information is in the public domain, there is an ethical requirement for Vision Accounts to treat all clients’ information with the strictest of confidentially using secure methods.


Illegal Access

  • Your personal information is considered extremely important and is kept in a secure manner on our database. However, if a client provides personal information by electronic mail (e-mail) to us, VA cannot be held responsible by the client or their agents for third party (hackers) interception of such data. This paragraph also applies to telephone conversations and SMS (text) messages between the client and the practice.


Information Between Staff

  • To provide you with the best possible services, discussions or information may be shared between Practice Professionals within Vision Accountants for the purpose of providing you with the best advice.
  • Where Vision Accounts have engaged the services of a third party, e.g. contracted bookkeepers, tax adviser, et cetera, there will be an onus on VA to disclose certain information in relation to the client in order to provide the service. By engaging Vision Accounts to provide such services, the client automatically give their permission for necessary data to be shared. Vision Accounts cannot be held liable by their client where third party contractors having their database hacked.
  • Vision Accountants is a professional organisation. We do not sell clients’ personal or business details to third parties.


Legal Requirement to Disclose Information

  • Your personal information will be only shared if ordered to do so by an Australian Commonwealth or Queensland court-of-law, or by written request from the Queensland or Australian Federal Police.


Accessing Your Records

  • You may request Vision Accountants to provide your information to you or to a third party within the accountancy profession by written request that is duly dated and signed.


Failing to provide personal data

  • It is very important that clients provide the most accurate information as attainable in relation to their personal and business tax affairs, in order for VA to provide the best and most suitable guidance and services.


Storing your personal & business information

  • The security of your personal information is of great importance to us and something that we take very seriously at Vision Accountants. We store your personal information in electronic format. All reasonable measures are taken to ensure your personal & business information is stored safely to protect it from interference, misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including electronic and physical security measures.


Communications

In relation to communications from the practice to the client; Vision Accountants may opt to communicate through any one or several of the following methods:

  • electronic mail;
  • telephone;
  • SMS messaging;
  • in person;
  • letter sent by post.


Vision Accountants cannot be held responsible for the security of personal information that a client may send through any of the above-mentioned methods. Exception: when presented in person on a one-to-one basis.


Updates and changes to our privacy policy

Vision Accountants reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time. Any such alterations we make to our privacy policy will be posted on this page and within the written privacy policy document.


We may process your personal information without your knowledge or consent where required by applicable laws and/or regulations.


Complaints and feedback

Should you wish to make a complaint about a breach of the Privacy Act, the APPs or a privacy code that applies to us, please contact us using the details below and we will take reasonable steps to investigate the complaint and respond to you.
